Audi S5’s Power Engine Makes Ward’s 10 Best Engines List

Audi S5For the fourth consecutive year, Audi’s 3.0 TFSI® Supercharged V6 engine has been named a winner in the annual Ward’s 10 Best Engines competition. WardsAuto, an information center for the global automotive industry, conducts the annual competition in which engines are tested and scored by WardsAuto editors based on noise, power, vibration, fuel economy, drivability, packaging, technical relevance, and specifications. The powerful engine that is found under the hood of the Audi S5 landed a spot on the 2013 Ward’s 10 Best Engines list.

“Audi TFSI engines have been disproving the myth that bigger is automatically better in term of engine performance since 2002,” said Scott Keogh, President, Audi of America. “This distinction from Ward’s demonstrates how Audi continues to lead the industry with high performing engines that are powerful, yet fuel efficient.”

The award winners will be honored at the North American International Auto Show in January.

“It’s hard these days for engines to stay on our list for two or three years, but the Audi S5’s 3.0L supercharged V6 has managed four straight years, and it does so with stunning grace and power. This engine does everything well – it’s quiet at idle and potent when prodded – in a number of vehicle application,” said Tom Murphy, Executive Editor, WardsAuto World. “The TFSI V6 has everything to do with Audi’s success in the US. In the S5, this first-rate engine and transmission go together with the chassis like a Vulcan mind meld.”
