Allroad Wins Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year Award

2013 Audi allroadThe annual Active Lifestyle Vehicle award is a competition that combines the opinions of elite athletes and automotive journalists. These ‘judges’ evaluated 28 finalist vehicles in seven categories. The 2013 Audi allroad earned the Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year Award in the Luxury On-Road category.

“While most Car of the Year competitions focus on various aspects of vehicle performance, we are more concerned with how well the vehicle helps to enhance our performance as athletes,” explained Nina Russin, co-founder of the ALV awards. “We evaluate how easy it is to load bicycles into the cargo area, or to clean the upholstery after an especially muddy trail run. We want to know if a sport-utility vehicle designed to go off-road can ford water, and if it can maintain directional control when one or more wheels is off the ground. Additionally, this program provides a good way for automakers to have constructive feedback from consumers living an active lifestyle.”

The Audi allroad returns to the US market after a seven year hiatus. The 2013 Audi allroad aims to combine the all-wheel drive capability of a crossover with the smooth refinement of a luxury sedan. Reprogrammed Electronic Stability Control, increased ride height, and underbody shields allow drivers to take the allroad to places that most crossovers and sedans could not handle. The spirit beneath the allroad’s surface eagerly begs to take on the worse road challenges drivers normally face.
