Audi racing is gearing up for another Petit Le Mans race in Atlanta but the Audi R18 TDI will be brand new to the course. The R18 TDI will be in Atlanta for the first time as well as the first overseas trip for the racing vehicle.
Audi has seen plenty of success at the Petit Le Mans in Atlanta, recording nine victories at the track. The Audi R8 was unbeatable from 2000-2005 at Atlanta and the Audi R10 took three straight victories in 2006-2008. After two straight years with the R15 TDI and no victory, Audi is ready to get back on track with the R18 TDI.
The R18 TDI has seen plenty of success, winning its tenth victory in June in dramatic fashion at the Le Mans 24 hours. The R18 TDI has the most innovative Audi technology with a compact 3.7-liter V6 TDI engine with a mono-VTG charger and super lightweight design that has made a huge factor of separating the best of the best on the course.
Audi will have three drivers between two R18 cars to cover the 1000 miles course or ten hour race. Audi has already seen great results in testing at Atlanta. Audi’s racing car set the fastest lap on Wednesday during a two hour session on the track.
Qualifying will take place Friday, September 30 in the afternoon and the race will begin on Saturday, October 1 at 11:30a.m. Tune in to ESPN3 to watch Audi race to victory!
