Audi Displaying S Models for World Debut at 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show (IAA)

Audi S6

Audi will reveal to the world their new S models during the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show (IAA).  The auto show takes place from September 15-25 in Frankfurt, Germany and is considered one of the most prestigious auto shows in the world.

Audi S6 Avant

Audi’s S models feature the power and performance expected from Audi vehicles along with appropriately low fuel consumption.  With engines being downsized in the S models, Audi is able to attain better fuel economy.

Audi S7

The newest S6, S7 and S8 will be showcased during the event.  Audi’s S6 and S6 Avant are powered by a 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine that unleashes 420 horsepower.  The S6 can go from 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds and the Avant in 4.9 seconds.  The fuel-efficient S6’s averages around 24 mpg, reducing fuel consumption by 25 percent from the previous version.

Audi’s S7 model uses the same engine as the S6 and can get from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds and attain 24 mpg average fuel efficiency as well.  The S6, S6 Avant and S7 all come equipped with Audi’s start/stop technology and “cylinder on demand” technology to improve fuel efficiency.

Audi S8

The S8, considered the top S model of the group, is powered by a 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine. The S8 roars to life with 520 horsepower and can zip from 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds, all while averaging a very impressive 23 mpg.

Audi engineers were able to increase the fuel efficiency of the S8 by 6 mpg and increase horsepower by 70 all while downsizing the engine.
