Kelley Blue Book devises the Total Cost of Ownership number by analyzing residual values to get depreciation costs, fuel, insurance, upkeep of the vehicle, state fees, and numerous other factors.

In addition to the Audi brand winning, KBB awarded the 2012 Audi A5 for Total Cost of Ownership in the Luxury Car segment.  The 2012 Audi Q7 grabbed the honor of Total Cost of Ownership award for Luxury Sport Utility Vehicle.

The awards help to give consumers a better overview of the true cost of a vehicle.  A five-year overview is great research for customers to have when trying to decide between vehicles.  Typically, consumers are looking at needs/wants as well as the initial purchase price.  The Total Cost of Ownership helps to make consumers look more long-term to try and see the true value of a vehicle over time.

The Audi Q3 Vail is powered by a 2.4-liter five-cylinder turbocharged engine that unleashes 314 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.  That’ll get your heart pumping for sure. The Audi Q3 Vail also put in special features for the Winter Sport fan.  A thermos in the cup holder in the front is able to be heated or chilled for your favorite drink.  The side wall of the trunk also has a charging station to allow for storing and charging flashlights and other electrical devices.

The coolest innovation of the Audi Q3 Vail comes from the heated seat cushions in the trunk mat.  The mat can folded out of the trunk to allow for drivers and passengers to sit on it and stay warm while taking off or putting on gear.  Pretty inventive!

The Q3 Vail isn’t just special with its name and performance, the color alone is specifically designed for this vehicle.  The Energy Red paint color has golden pearlescent particles in it.  The high-gloss color gives a unique and special look to the vehicle.

The interior features a sporty look with black, grey and red woven throughout to give the famous Audi ambience.  Black leather seats are trimmed with red velvet-finish leather.  The same red velvet-finish leather is found in the door trim as well.

“We are aiming to achieve strong growth on an international scale and boost our lightweight construction and electric mobility areas of expertise in particular,” said Thomas Sigi, Audi AG member of the board of management for human resources.

With Audi planning three big electric models, hiring 1,200 new workers for 2012, as well as a record-setting 2011 sale season, 2012 is looking to be quite a big one for Audi.

Audi won the Doors & Closures Innovation award for its fully pressed aluminum system doors.  The new doors helped to reduce weight by 44 lbs per door!  Through extensive Audi testing, they were able to make the door stronger with less material used.  Typical doors are designed with steel.

The second A6 honor, the EuroCarBody award, is the highest valued award in the body manufacturing world.  Audi once again was able to utilize aluminum throughout the vehicle to drop the A6’s weight by an astounding 15%.  The aluminum components are utilized in over 20% of the body design.

Plant Manager Albrecht Reimold, who collected the awards on behalf of the members of the Planning, Design and Production departments, remarked: “The lightweight body construction concept for the new A6 Sedan demonstrates our powers of innovation and puts us at the very forefront of our field of competitors.”

Audi is the Official Vehicle and Premium Partner for FC Barcelona.  Audi is providing a vehicle for each player on the FC Barcelona first squad.  The players were allowed to test drive Audi’s vehicles and pick which vehicle they preferred.  Most players opted for the Audi Q7 but a few went for the sporty RS5.
